It's Rivals Week and that means the Michigan State University Spartans and University of Michigan Wolverines are gearing up for Saturday's showdown in Spartan Stadium.
Brian Lewerke threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Felton Davis with 19 seconds left to lift Michigan State past No. 8 Penn State 21-17
The Spartans entered with the nation’s top-ranked run defense and held Northwestern to 8 yards on the ground, but it didn’t matter.
The final score was closer than it could have been, though.
Indiana got within a touchdown with a 36-yard field goal with 3:28 to go, but the Spartans closed it out with Jalen Nailor’s 75-yard TD run.
Brian Lewerke, who played at nearby Pinnacle High School, threw for 314 yards and a touchdown for the Spartans, who are 1-13 in regular-season games out West.
