UPDATE: Police investigate human remains in south Lansing home

UPDATE (Tuesday 10:27 a.m.) – Authorities responding to the reported discovery of possible human bones at a mid-Michigan home say they’ve found human remains.

Lansing police say officers responded Monday to the home. Investigators were seen working in the home’s backyard.

A Michigan State University Forensic Anthropology team, a Michigan State Police human remains analyst and the medical examiner’s office verified the discovery of human remains.

Police on Tuesday morning didn’t immediately release information about a possible identity of the remains. An autopsy was planned and the investigation is ongoing.

ORIGINAL STORY – LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Police are on scene and appeared to be working in a backyard of a residence in a south Lansing neighborhood.

Officers have still not revealed why they are investigating the home on Loa Street near Atlas Ave.

The home is taped off and they told our photographer they expect to be there through the night.

Lansing Police Department officials say they plan to issue a press release on this case tomorrow.
